Dear All,

Hope you all're good, received some queries asking for estimating the steam pressure(absolute / gauge) on temperature basis and Steam temperature on pressure(absolute / gauge) basis.

Recently this query was raised by Mr. Seetha Ramaiah,

Basically, as per me there wont be any direct formulae to determine the steam pressure and temperature, Since i've tried searching for all those, and haven't received fruitful results, so today i'm posting what i got and what i sticked to regarding this concept,

If you want to know the temperature of steam in the transfer line based on pressure, you can use the below table:

The calculation remains same, no. of trays = no. of packings,

Usually we'll prefer packings because the contact time of vapour and liquid will increase, that's it...!!

2. Dear Ajay, i knew the process for finding number of tryas for a distillation column by McCab and thiele process but i am confused with how my resultant number of trays equal to no.of packings. Here i noticed that my column only having 2 sections and each section having 4m height of structure packing bed. How to equivalent no of trays to packed bed height? clarify me...
